It’s been too long since I heard the rain,
We’ve had far too few cloudy days.
The soil is dust, the forests ablaze!
And at last we receive some rain.
The wind picks up and the air grows damp,
The droplets fall, splicker splat.
But happy am I who sits inside,
Or in the yard with arms out wide.
The sounds of the rain is a song so enchanting,
And the wind the partner with whom I’ll be dancing.
Even if the wind screams like a banshee,
It shall still be a sight to see.
Let the thunder roll and the lightning spark,
With it I shall synchronize my beating heart.
Whether out in the storm or inside keeping warm,
It’s been too long since I heard the rain.
